Hi Bill —
Really like this one — nice balance of all the elements it takes for a good plein air painting…especially the pop of the red dumpster — the obvious focus of the piece. I struggle with those focal points sometimes, opting to go for overall interest, when it’s better to lead the eye like you’ve done here. Well done, nice sky transition & value too…
I really like how proficiently you use neutrals. And such interesting ones.
Makes the dumpster have star qualities.
Great darks in the shadows too.
Glad you’re back at it.
Kathy, Very nice to hear from you. I’ve noted that you’re spending a lot of your time in the saddle lately instead of the easel. I could never get comfortable sharing the road with cars so have pretty much given it up, myself. Looking forward to seeing the new work you’ve mentioned on your blog.

I *love* this. Composition, color, everything works. And I love dumpsters too. They’re representative in so many ways.

Hi Bonnie. All dumpsters have star quality, in my opinion. Thanks for staying in touch.
